Services

These Cultural Welfare Societies are established in order to participate in local issues and to promote and manage matters of general interest which affect its territorial areas. As institutions for participation, consultation, promotion and management in regional interests, the Cultural Welfare Societies? responsibilities are:

a) The issuance of a Report on bill drafts for the Regional Regulations, drawn up by the Regional Council, which could specifically affect the interests of the area.

b) Reporting on any other matter of general interest for the area which could be subject to consideration by the Regional Council or the General Provincial Governments of Álava.

c) Proposal to the Regional Council of Álava of Procedural Plans and Programmes of specific interest to each area.

d) Channelling and carrying out, as the case may be, of those duties assigned to regional bodies for the development and execution of sector-wide policies of the European Community, the State, the Autonomous Regional Government or Historical Area. e) Promoting and managing services of general interest to the area.

f) Assuming responsibilities by delegation or transfer from the Town and Regional Councils and other public institutions.

g) Preparing works proposals for the area?s Regional Works and Services Plan, before their drafting by the Regional Council.

Currently, the services provided by the Cultural Welfare Society are:

  • Manager-legal representative: legal consultation.
  • Socio-cultural activities planning.
  • Economic and employment development.
  • Urban planning: architects and quantity surveyors.
  • Basic social services: social assistance.
  • Archiving services.
  • Consultation to Magistrate Courts.
