Gibijo wolf-trap

An unusual construction formed by two great stone walls over 300 m long, where wolves were once brought down. It stands in a beautiful beech wood at the foot of Mount Arangatxas.

It lines within the municipality of Koartango, on the border with Urkabustaiz, but has been used for centuries by all the villages of both municipalities, where pastures and woodlands were worked in common in the Gibijo hills.

The site can be reached on foot or by bike from Urkabustaiz starting from Abezia or Unzá. The path is just over 10 km long, and runs through areas of great interest in terms of plants, animals and geology.
